Vertiport and Charging Planning: A Brief for Airports

Amagi Vertiports · Camano Island, Washington · amagienergy@gmail.com

Who we are

Amagi Vertiports is a consulting firm helping airports plan and develop vertiport and charging infrastructure. Our focus is drone delivery, starting with medical and parcel, plus eVTOL for emergency services. Our work aligns with WSDOT’s initial focus on charging infrastructure.

How we help airports

  • Site screening for vertiport and charging fit
  • Modular layouts designed to EB 105A criteria
  • Power, utility and charging plans
  • Construction planning, estimating and procurement
  • Master plan and ALP integration support
  • Free discovery call

The standard vertiport

  • 1 landing pad and 3 charging stations
  • Drone delivery hub for medical and parcel operators
  • Quick-response stall for emergency eVTOL
  • A small terminal for operations
  • Adapted to each airport’s footprint

Developer-operator option

  • Amagi can raise private capital and lease land under a long-term ground lease (typically 30–35 years).
  • Amagi designs, builds and operates the vertiport. The airport puts up no construction capital.
  • The airport earns base rent plus a share of revenue, at fair market value.
  • Privately led, open to public funding partnerships.

20 airports screened

We have completed a site screening of 20 Washington airports for vertiport and charging fit. Results are shared directly with each airport.

FAA obligations and grants

  • The airport keeps its existing FAA obligations and grant assurances.
  • Any grant is the airport’s own decision, through its own process.
  • FAA and environmental review are required.
  • No airport agreement or funding is in place, and no approval or partner is implied.

Process (steps only)

  1. Discovery call
  2. Site screening
  3. Layout & power plan
  4. Funding path
  5. Reviews
  6. Construction

Eli Olson, founder: about 23 years in electrical equipment procurement and supply.
Rob McAllister, partner: about 25 years in airport construction, estimating and project management.

Future concept

We are also exploring a design concept for steel vertiport decks over existing park-and-ride lots, linking drone delivery and emergency eVTOL with transit without new land.
